Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools’ spring break is Monday, March 29, through Friday, April 2, 2027, on the district’s 2026-27 traditional calendar (PDF). With a teacher workday and Good Friday in front of it, most students are out for 11 days in a row, from Thursday, March 25, to Sunday, April 4. Charter, private and early college schools set their own calendars; check yours.

CMS spring break 2028 and early college calendars
The district has already posted next year’s dates. On the 2027-28 traditional calendar (PDF), approved by the Board of Education on April 14, 2026, spring break moves later:
- Spring break 2028: Monday, April 10, to Friday, April 14, 2028 (Good Friday falls inside the break).
- Easter Monday, April 17, 2028: teacher workday, no school for students. It is also the fourth makeup day on the list, so it can become a school day if bad weather closes schools.
- Third quarter ends Thursday, March 30, 2028, with a teacher workday Friday, March 31.
CMS early college programs run on their own calendars and take spring break earlier in 2027:

County spring break camps
Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation has already posted its 2027 spring break camps. Each runs 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekdays when CMS is out, with art, sports and nature activities. Families sign up one day at a time; fees are on each listing.

What is open and closed
- Schools: closed to students March 25 to April 2.
- Trash pickup: in 2026, Good Friday ran with no delay under the city’s new holiday rules. The 2027 schedule was not out as of Oct. 11; see our trash and recycling guide.

Do CMS early college students get the same spring break?
No. In 2027, CPCC early and middle colleges are off March 10-12, and UNC Charlotte early colleges are off March 8-12. Both also get Good Friday, March 26.
