A show for Mother’s Day weekend
The Wiz, May 7-9, 2027. The Broadway musical is a Broadway Extra in the 2026-27 season at Blumenthal Performing Arts, and its last performances fall on Mother’s Day weekend. Blumenthal says single tickets go on sale later.
Gardens
Wing Haven, 260 Ridgewood Ave. in Myers Park, is three historic gardens in one: Wing Haven Garden and Bird Sanctuary, the SEED Wildlife and Children’s Garden, and the Elizabeth Lawrence House and Garden. The gardens celebrate their centennial, 1927 to 2027, in 2027. Visiting hours are Wednesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., so the Saturday before Mother’s Day is the day to go. Admission is $10 for adults and children over 10; members get in free. Park in the gravel lot next to the foundation office.
Wing Haven also holds a plant sale twice a year; its fall sale ran Oct. 7-10, 2026, with free garden admission during the sale. The spring 2027 dates were not posted as of Oct. 11.
