As of Oct. 11, no Memorial Day 2027 ceremony in Charlotte had been posted by its organizer. Ceremonies are usually announced in May by veterans groups, cemeteries and the county. We will list each one here with time and place when it is published.
The Coca-Cola 600
The 68th Coca-Cola 600 runs on Sunday, May 30, 2027, at 6 p.m. at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord. The speedway’s event page lists a Salute the Troops patriotic pre-race show, driver appearances and autographs, and concerts on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The weekend also has the Charbroil 300 on Saturday, May 29, at 5 p.m. and the NC Education Lottery 200 Truck Series race on Friday, May 28, at 7 p.m. Weekend ticket packages cover May 28-30.
Splash pads and pools
Mecklenburg County’s free spraygrounds open Memorial Day weekend and run daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Labor Day. Locations, plus the county’s outdoor pools, are on our summer camps and pools guide.

- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools: closed Monday, May 31, on the 2026-27 calendar (PDF). The last day of school is Wednesday, June 9.
- Trash pickup: under the city’s new holiday rules in 2026, there was no collection on Memorial Day; that week’s routes ran Tuesday through Friday, with no Saturday pickup and no yard waste collection. The city had not posted its 2027 schedule as of Oct. 11; see our trash and recycling guide.
